TORONTO — Travelweek’s virtual reality platform has been nominated to receive an award at the EyeforTravel Start-Up Awards this month in Las Vegas. Explor VR has been recognized as an industry-leading technology and entrepreneurial venture, chosen to compete in the business pitch competition.
“We are thrilled that EyeforTravel chose us to participate out of all the other great companies out there,” says Devin Kinasz, President of Explor VR and Director of Digital Strategy at Travelweek. “We know that our technology is gaining a lot of interest and being nominated for this award proves we are on the right track.”
Used as a sales tool for travel agents, Explor VR has developed a smartphone-friendly application that can be used with virtual reality headsets to show off destinations to potential clients. Virtual reality is becoming increasingly popular with travel agents and Explor VR is the leading company providing this technology to the trade.
The EyeforTravel’s Start-up Awards runs for two days and includes different sessions with top travel entrepreneurs, followed by the Start-up Awards competition. Held on Oct. 19, the competition will feature 12 travel startups, including Explor VR, each of which will deliver their pitches to the judges, investors and audience present at the event.
EyeforTravel is a hub for travel, transport and hospitality executives looking to share information on trends in technology, marketing and consumer behaviour. It established the Start-Up Awards in 2008 due to the ever-growing interest in the exciting world of new business ideas.
The Awards winner will receive media exposure and will be asked to speak at the North America 2018 Summit. In addition, the winner will be able to access EyeforTravel’s business contacts and connections to help secure financial investment to build the business going forward.
“Explor VR is extremely honoured to be selected to participate in such a prestigious event and given the opportunity to compete for the Start-Up Award,” adds Kinasz. “We have been getting a lot of attention from big industry players and it will be great to get in front of even more – and hopefully bring home that prize!”
