Rat boards flight in California because even rodents need a holiday

OAKLAND — As we all grudgingly return to work following the holiday break, one wily little rodent has made it its mission to keep the vacation going well into the New Year.

A rat hell-bent on getting the hell out of dodge was spotted onboard an Alaska Airlines flight departing from Oakland International Airport in California to Portland, Oregon.

The airline says passengers were boarding the flight on Tuesday when the tiny stowaway jumped from the jet way onto the plane. Passengers who were already onboard were forced to come off, and the plane was taken out of service. Most of the 110 passengers scheduled to take the flight were rebooked on a later flight to Portland.

Alaska Airlines says it will resume using the plane once a professional exterminator certifies it to be rodent-free.

No word as to where the rat is currently hiding out, but in the Disney adaptation of this hilarious story, it’d be holed up in the First Class lounge with a martini in hand.
