Air Canada adds new flights to Portland

Air Canada adds new flights to Portland: land of outdoor adventure, food trucks

TORONTO — Representatives from Portland and Oregon – the great ‘hub and spoke’ destination – where urban food trucks meet the great outdoors, visited Toronto to showcase the northwestern state, which will enjoy new direct Air Canada flights from Calgary later this spring.

Starting May 1, Air Canada will add a daily direct flight from Calgary to Portland (AC 8315) leaving at 12:55 p.m. with a flight duration of 1 hour and 40 minutes. Another daily direct flight from Calgary will be added on June 19, flight AC8317. This is in addition to the four daily direct flights from Vancouver already in service.

Portland is a hip and vibrant city that ranks #1 in the world for food trucks, supporting over 500 food trucks at any given time. The city is also popular for its 60 local craft breweries; flourishing culinary scene; easy to navigate tree lined streets; abundance of downtown parks; sustainable transportation; vibrant nightlife and much, much more.

Portland’s proximity to nature, however, is one of the other main draws for tourists. Within a 20-minute drive you can be deep in wine country, or within just 90 minutes you can be enjoying the coastline or hitting the ski slopes.

The state of Oregon is a mecca of outdoor adventure. Tourists can head to Mount Hood for year-round skiing, or do scenic bike tour in the Willamette Valley. The Oregon coast is also well known for its massive sand dunes and holds the title of Dungeness crab capital of the world. Central Oregon enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year, world-class rock climbing and 30 golf courses.
