Did you know? Why you should never wear leggings on airplanes

NEW YORK — Say it ain’t so! An aviation expert has come forward to denounce the many benefits of leggings, which have become the must-have accessory for women while travelling.

According to Cosmopolitan, aviation expert Christine Negroni told The Sun that yoga-style leggings shouldn’t be worn on planes, not because they may not be warm enough or can be regarded by some as ‘skimpy’, but because they may actually be a fire hazard.

“Everyone is wearing yoga pants on aeroplanes now, but I avoid all artificial fibres because they are more likely to burn and stick to you if there is a fire,” she told The Sun during her interview.

Negroni suggests clothes made of cotton and natural fibres as a safer alternative, and also advises passengers to put their shoes on prior to arrival. While many of us are guilty of shedding our footwear throughout the course of a long flight, Negroni says that the riskiest time on a flight is during landing, which is why a shoe policy should be enforced.

“If you escape an aircraft, the floor could be very hot or cold, it might be covered in oil or on fire, or in a cornfield – you won’t want to be barefoot,” she added.

Got it. Ditch the leggings and keep our shoes on. But oh, how difficult it’ll be to leave those leggings at home.
