WOW air plans Canada-Bristol flights via Iceland next May

REYKJAVIK — Low-cost Icelandic airline WOW air will launch service to Bristol from Toronto and Montréal next year.

Bristol is WOW air’s second UK destination for flights from Montréal and Toronto through Iceland. Tickets for the Bristol flights, beginning May 13, 2016, are now on sale from $269.

This newest destination is a gateway to Stonehenge, Bath, Wales and Jane Austen’s old stomping grounds. Travellers will have a one-hour stopover in Iceland before continuing on to connect with Southwest England or Wales.

The Bristol flights come within days of WOW air inaugural flights to Iceland May 12 from Montreal and May 20 from Toronto.

“Among our already active routes, the UK is one of our strongest markets with monthly load factors on our London Gatwick route regularly over 90%,” says Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW air. “We’re excited to announce this new route before the Canadian flights begin, offering even more unique destinations and historic sights for travellers coming from Montréal and Toronto, where the inaugural flights will depart within just days of the first flights to Bristol.”

Bristol becomes the airline’s 25th destination following the announcement of Canadian and Californian routes in October and November, respectively.

Launched in November 2011, WOW air’s annual passenger capacity will more than double in 2016 to over 1.8 million, up from approximately 840,000 in 2015.
