The Canadian travel industry is fuelled year after year by huge volumes of ITC package sales to sun and sand destinations. So does that mean we’re immune to 2019’s travel trends? Not at all.
TORONTO – Coming in December, Sunwing will be launching new nonstop flight service from Vancouver to Costa Rica, making it the only carrier to offer this route direct from YVR.
Departing on Sundays between Dec. 23, 2018 to March 31, 2019, the weekly direct service to Liberia will be operated on the airline’s new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Last year, Sunwing became the first to offer a direct flight from Vancouver to Montego Bay, Jamaica. With the addition of Costa Rica, Vancouverites can enjoy access to 11 different Sun destinations this winter season.
“We’re very pleased to be introducing Costa Rica for the coming winter. As well as being renowned for its eco tours and adventures, this popular destination also stands out for the quality of its accommodation,” said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing. “With this new service, our Vancouver customers will be able to choose between two of our consistently most popular top-rated resorts – Riu Palace Costa Rica and Riu Guanacaste – or be among the first guests to experience the new Planet Hollywood Costa Rica, opening his fall.”
To celebrate the Oct. 1 opening of this new resort, Sunwing is inviting guests to be among the first to visit the property with a new Red Carpet sale. Travellers who book Planet Hollywood Beach Resort Costa Rica by June 29 can take advantage of savings of up to 50% on vacation packages. Even more, agents can earn 4X the STAR Agent Reward points that convert to cash on all new bookings, for departures between Oct. 1, 2018 and Dec. 20, 2019.
Planet Hollywood Beach Resort Costa Rica is the first-ever, all-inclusive luxury resort for Planet Hollywood and features an array of upscale amenities, including handcrafted ‘Phabulous Beds’, 24-hour room service, unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi throughout, plush bathrobes and slippers, private balconies and terraces, and daily supervised kids activities. Guests who upgrade to Star Class can enjoy Al-list treatment that ranges from their own personal agent and preferred seating at restaurants, to exclusive access to the private pool and bar.
More savings can be had with another Sunwing sale, this one designed for families. The Summer Family Fun sale, available until June 15, includes savings of up to $2,000 per family on a wide range of vacation packages to all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. Limited space is still available for summer dates, so families are encouraged to book quickly.
Sunwing recommends several family-friendly properties, including Riu Dunamar in Playa Mujeres, Mexico, a beachfront property that offers rooms for families of five, all-day entertainment, water sports, an on-site Splash Water Park, and RIU-topia inclusions like unlimited à la carte dining and spa discounts.
There’s also the Royalton Negril Resort and Spa in Jamaica, a top-rated luxury resort featuring five-star accommodations, a pool complex, spa and complimentary kids club, as well as Grand Memories Santa Maria, featuring an on-site kids club, kayaking, pedal boating and beach volleyball.
All vacation packages include return flights on Sunwing Airlines where passengers can enjoy a welcome sparkling wine toast, buy onboard Sunwing Café menu with selections inspired by Food Network Canada Celebrity Chef Lynn Crawford, and backpacks for children filled with games and toys.
