Silversea unveils first-ever Pacific Coast explorations as part of 2018 Americas lineup

MIAMI — Silversea Expeditions is taking on the Americas in 2018 with a brand new collection of voyages that sail north from Ushuaia, up the Pacific coastline, all the way to Vancouver.

“These new and exciting expeditions offer the modern-day traveller a chance to rediscover the naturally stunning and historically interesting west coast of the Americas,” said Conrad Combrink, Silversea’s vice president of expedition planning and strategic development. “Each of these unique expeditions will offer a wide variety of exploration activities — from exploring rich marine ecosystems by Zodiac, hiking in rain forests, discovering prolific wildlife, cruising historically important rivers, and exploring volcanoes, to savouring incredible cuisine. Our selection of expeditions along the west coasts of these two great continents will impress and leave the most intrepid traveller longing for more.”

The new 2018 voyages include:

  • Ushuaia to Valparaiso (Voyage 7804), 14 days, Feb. 25-March 11. Highlights include Patagonia’s lakes and glaciers, the wooden churches of Chiloé, and Torres del Paine National Park.
  • Valparaiso to Callao (Lima) (Voyage 7805), 10 days, March 11-21. This voyage includes a complimentary excursion to see the mysterious Nazca Lines from the air, plus local boat excursions to the Ballestas Islands. Also available is an optional overnight overland experience to the Atacama Desert.
  • Callao (Lima) to Fuerte Amador (Panama City) (Voyage 7806), 14 days, March 21-April 4. This new voyage features four new destinations: Puerto Quepos (Costa Rica), Golfo Dulce (Costa Rica), Isla de Coiba (Panama), and Panama City. Also included is a river adventure through Panama’s legendary Darién Jungle.
  • Fuerte Amador (Panama City) to Pueto Quetzal (Voyage 7807), 12 days, April 4-16. Highlights include the colonial architecture of Nicaragua and the coasts of El Salvador.
  • Mazatlán to San Diego (Voyage 7808), 11 days, April 21-May 2. Guests will sail along the Sea of Cortez, home to UNESCO protected biospheres and a wealth of marine mammals, including whales, dolphins and sea lions. There’s also an overnight excursion to Copper Canyon.
  • San Diego to Vancouver (Voyage 7809), 11 days, May 2-13. This journey is rich in Americana, with highlights that include Monterey’s famous aquarium, Big Sur, San Francisco, Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier.
  • Vancouver to San Francisco (Voyage 7810), 9 days, May 13-22. This American odyssey includes two new destinations: Anacortes and Cypress Island. Guests will also visit Olympia and Mount Rainer.

While onboard the Silver Explorer, passengers enjoy oceanview suites, gourmet cuisine, services of a butler and a generous selection of all-inclusive shipboard amenities like complimentary beverages, wines and spirits. They also receive at least one hour of free Wi-Fi per guest each day.
