Near sell-outs for Hotel Xcaret prompt plans for second resort by 2019

MAZATLAN — Hotel Xcaret Mexico is such a success, just four months after its debut the resort’s developers are announcing a second brand new hotel project slated to open in 2019.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico opened in December 2017 and already is posting occupancy rates of more than 90% for Q1 2018, according to Destino Xcaret.

At the 43rd edition of Tianguis Turistico, taking place this week in Mazatlan, Francisco Gutierrez, CEO of the Hotels Division of Destino Xcaret, revealed plans for a second hotel project, ‘La Casa de la Playa’, billed as an ecologically-inclined boutique hotel with 63 spacious suites with private plunge pools. The suites will be categorized into 3 concepts: Nature, Fun and Wellness.

The property will also have four restaurants, two pools, a spa, mezcaleria, chocolate confectionary shop, wine cellar and a library.

La Casa de la Playa is set to open in the summer of 2019 and Gutierrez says he’s aiming to make it the best boutique hotel in Mexico, consolidating the hotel offering of Experiencias Xcaret Group.

“Hotel Xcaret Mexico in an unprecedented project within the hotel industry. We created a new concept – All-Fun Inclusive – that has allowed us to offer a comprehensive product, with unlimited access to all of Experiencias Xcaret’s parks and tours, including transportation services and meal plans,” said Gutierrez.

Destino Xcaret encompasses 915 acres and a US$2 billion investment. In the next eight years there will be 6,000 hotel rooms, a multipurpose stadium with capacity for 12,000, an 800,000-square-foot convention centre and an entertainment and commercial centre with promenades along the river, ‘Pueblo del Rio’.
