Any time a country or region imposes any sort of visa stipulation - even if it’s a waiver - the travel industry sighs a collective groan, knowing the obstacles and headaches to come.
MALLORCA — Spain’s Pure Salt Luxury Hotels is expanding to the Caribbean, with its first resort in the region set to open in the D.R. in 2021.
Pure Salt Orchidarium, with a prime location in Uvero Alto in Punta Cana, will include 250 rooms and 11 villas. The US$85 million development is the first Caribbean project for the company, which also has Pure Salt Port Adriano, Pure Salt Garonda and Pure Salt Residences Palma, all in Mallorca, Spain and all adults-only.
All ground floor rooms at Pure Salt Orchidarium in Punta Cana will have a private pool or swim-up pool, with direct access to the resort’s lazy river pool.
There will also be five restaurants, a spa and wellness area on two levels, an infinity pool with ocean views, a coffee shop and a cigar bar.
The company says it has taken great care to look after and showcase the environment and surroundings where the resort will be located. “Construction will co-exist seamlessly with gardens and nature-inspired areas that will showcase the unique natural beauty of the Dominican Republic,” says Pure Salt Luxury Hotels.
The resort will also feature a signature orchid garden in the midst of a large pond. Access to the orchid garden will be via an elevated bridge path.
Pure Salt Orchidarium will “cater to high net worth guests who search for exclusivity but will also be attractive to the MICE market as the resort includes a 6,000-square-foot conference hall.”
