Sunwing extends suspension of operations to Aug. 31

Sunwing’s latest 737 MAX update, plus new ‘Countdown to Summer Sale’

TORONTO — Sunwing has announced additional flying capacity and a reconfigured schedule without the Boeing 737 MAX 8 following the extension of the aircraft’s grounding.

According to Sunwing’s latest operational update, schedule changes for departures up to and including Monday, Sept. 2 have now been made and are reflected in its flight times on sunwing.ca and across its reservation system.

If a customer’s travel plans have been affected, “we will be communicating this directly to their travel agent, as appropriate,” said Sunwing. “We are currently still finalizing any schedule adjustments beyond this departure date and are working hard to ensure these changes will have minimal impact on our operations and on customer experience.”

In other Sunwing news, the company has launched its ‘Countdown to Summer Sale’, which runs until June 21 and includes savings of up to 30% on select departures to top-rated resorts across the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. Plus, depending on the resort, clients can enjoy more savings with Kids Stay, Play and Eat FREE deals, no single parent supplement fees, exclusive inclusions and more.

“There are several hidden costs associated with staycations that many don’t always account for when planning,” said Jacqueline Grossman, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications. “Between booking activities to keep children entertained, steep gas prices and food and beverage, the costs of vacation close to home can add up quickly. When you opt for an all-inclusive, resort-based vacation down south, food and entertainment options are often included, meaning that your travel budget goes much further.”

As part of the sale, clients can book a wide variety of resorts including the family-friendly Grand Princess All Suites and Spa Resort in Riviera Maya, which offers a kids club, water sports and the Platinum Club. There’s also the Riu Negril in Jamaica, recently renovated and home to a kids pool with water slides, kid-friendly dining options and RIU-topia inclusions like unlimited reservation-free dining at specialty restaurants, spa credits and complimentary Wi-Fi.

All Sunwing vacation packages include return flights on Sunwing Airlines.
