Any time a country or region imposes any sort of visa stipulation - even if it’s a waiver - the travel industry sighs a collective groan, knowing the obstacles and headaches to come.
TORONTO — G Adventures is bringing back its Change Makers Challenge for 2020, with a new location.
The news comes weeks after G Adventures wrapped up its 2019 Change Makers Summit in Peru. Travelweek took part in that trip, with a full report by industry writer Vawn Himmelsbach here.
The Change Makers Challenge incentivizes agents to focus on ‘changing people’s lives through travel’, and invites them to rediscover why they love selling travel in the process, says the company.
The 2020 Change Makers Challenge is now live and runs until Jan. 31, 2020. It culminates in the Change Makers Summit, which will be hosted in a mystery location in April 2020.
More than 150 change makers from Canada, the UK & Ireland, Central Europe, South Africa, the United States and Australia & New Zealand will be brought together, including members of G Adventures’ team of global purpose specialists from around the world, for the 2020 trip.
Similar to the 2019 event, the summit will comprise of a week-long trip where agents see first-hand the positive impact community tourism has for local people, as well as destination highlights to help build their product knowledge. At the end of the trip, agents will have a full-day, immersive G Adventures experience “and be treated to a party night to remember”.
There are three ways agents can earn their space at the 2020 Change Makers Summit.
All agents will automatically receive one entry per ‘life changed’ (traveller booked).
There will also be wildcard opportunities throughout 2019.
Finally, the ‘social good’ entry submission category returns with a deadline of Dec. 31. This category rewards agents who share a story about how they have given back to their community or the travel community at large.
