We’re just days away from FIT Cuba 2017

HOLGUIN — Cuba is gearing up for its Cuba International Tourism Fair, also known as FIT Cuba, which takes places from May 3-6 in the province of Holguin.

The Fair takes place each year in May and attracts tour operators and travel agents from around the world. The 2016 event saw its biggest turnout yet, with over 5,000 delegates from approximately 60 countries.

This year, there will be both pre- and post-FIT Cuba tour options in Holguin for attendees. The focus of the event will be on tourist excursions, which had over four million participants in 2016. Discussions will also cover the expansion of Cuba’s docking facilities as well as new construction planned to meet the growing demand of cruise ships, managed mainly by Canadian and European companies.

Ahead of FIT Cuba, the town of Gibara will be officially launched as a tourist destination on May 2. Cuba’s Tourism Minister, Manuel Marrero, said that “improving our tourism product is our top priority.”
