Gateways International’s 2017 Europe & Mediterranean Brochure

TORONTO — Gateways International Tailor-made Tours has launched its new 2017 Europe and Mediterranean brochure, expanded to 40 full-colour pages and featuring journey suggestions with day-by-day descriptions.

The company, which celebrates its 31st anniversary in July, specializes in custom-made itineraries with new tours in England, Scotland and Ireland, including ITS newest destination – Scandinavia.

In honour of the 100th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge, the company’s popular ‘Canadian War Memorials’ itinerary pays tribute to Canadians who served their country in World Wars I and II. Travellers will visit the Commonwealth Landing Beaches in Normandy, Flanders Battlefields, Vimy Ridge Memorial and the area of Somme.

New for 2017, small-group escorted journeys in Scotland and Ireland travel in 16-seater mini coaches and with professional driver-guides. Several small group daily tours have been incorporated into itineraries in England, Scotland and Ireland.

Also available is The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, a popular pilgrimage route that leads to Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. “Some choose to participate for spiritual reasons, others to discover history and culture, some simply for the challenge,” said Talia May, Director, Marketing and Operations. Starting in a variety of cities in Spain, Portugal, France and Ireland, itineraries can be guided, self-guided and fully customized.

Scandinavia is another brochure highlight. Gateways is offering the eight-day ‘Exploring Norway’ program from Bergen to Flam and ending in Oslo, and the seven-day ‘Highlights of Denmark and Sweden’ program featuring Copenhagen and Stockholm. There’s also ‘Classic Russia’, a deluxe eight-day private journey highlighting two of Russia’s most iconic hubs: St. Petersburg and Moscow. Clients stay in five-star deluxe accommodations.

Back by popular demand, pre-packaged pre- and post-cruise itineraries, to and from port cities in Europe are showcased. “Cruise ports are always changing, this year we have introduced Helsinki, Finland,” said May. All packages include private transfers to and from the pier or airport, two nights’ accommodation at four-star hotels, daily breakfast and a classic city tour.

Not to be outdone is Iceland, where Gateways offers a new self-drive itinerary featuring the famous Ring Road, a combination of driving and sightseeing. and unique guesthouses. “Iceland’s tourism industry is booming. From private itineraries, self-drives and escorted tours, Iceland is popular year round. Summer offers long, beautiful days, while the winter months allow travellers to see epic Northern Lights,” added May.
