HNA Group looking to sell $65 billion stake in Hilton

Hilton falls in line with Marriott’s 48-hour cancellation policy

TORONTO — Hilton is following Marriott’s lead with a new 48-hour cancellation policy, charging travellers a fee equivalent to one night’s stay for room bookings cancelled with less than 48 hours notice.

According to frequent traveller blog TravelSkills, Hilton will start charging the fee, previously levied on cancellation with 24 hours’ notice, at the end of July.

According to a Hilton spokesperson, “we regularly review guest booking and cancellation patterns across our 5,000+ properties, and have seen cancellation rates rise the last few years. These insights have led to the proposed update … both guests and hotel owners will benefit from rooms that would previously have gone unused.”
