LAHAINA, HAWAII — Kaanapali Beach Hotel won big at The Maui News annual ‘Best of Maui’ Awards, taking home two awards that honoured its culinary offerings.

The hotel’s Tiki terrace’s Sunday Champagne Brunch was awarded ‘Best Brunch Buffet’, while Executive Chef Tom Muromoto received the coveted title of ‘Best Chef’. An honourable mention was given to the Tiki Terrace restaurant in the ‘Best Resort Restaurant’ category.

“To be recognized by The Maui News with these coveted readership-based awards is always a greatly prized honor, and our entire culinary team is tremendously proud of this affirmation of their work,” said Mike White, General Manager of Kaanapali Beach Hotel. “We’re grateful and thrilled to be considered alongside so many other remarkable brunches and chefs. We are committed to continue to provide our guests with lasting memories and experiences.”

The Maui News ‘Best of Maui’ Awards was established in 1992 and is relied upon as a guide to Maui County’s top dining destinations, commercial activities, cultural programs, shopping, lodging and discounts. Visitors and residents participated in the 50-category survey by casting ballots on paper and electronically to vote for their favorite restaurants, entertainment, activities and more.

The legendary brunch includes a spread featuring breads and pastries, tropical fruit, waffles, crab legs, sushi and Hawaiian specialties, such as poke, poi and kalua pig. There are also omelet and carving stations along with a decadent dessert table spread with a variety of confections. With availability for open-air or indoor seating, the Sunday Champagne Brunch is served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and also features live Hawaiian entertainment. The cost of the brunch is US$44.95 for adults, $25 for children six to 12 years old and children under five years old eat free with a paying adult.
