MONTREAL — Air Canada will increase service between Mexico City and Canada with the resumption of daily flights to and from Montreal and the introduction of a new flight to and from Vancouver this November. Twice daily flights between Toronto and Mexico City will also continue year round. This comes a few days after Mexicana Airlines announced it was suspending flights until further notice.

“Air Canada began serving Mexico City 46 years ago. Over that time, Canada and Mexico have built close ties not only through family connections and a vibrant tourism market, but also due to business connections - particularly with the creation of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Air transport is vital to maintaining these relationships and Air Canada wants to ensure that there is sufficient capacity linking Canada and Mexico City to meet demand,” said Ben Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada. “In addition, in an increasingly global economy, travellers between Mexico and other parts of the world such as Europe and Asia find our major hubs in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are a convenient way to connect and take advantage of our extensive international network.”

Air Canada currently operates twice daily service between Toronto and Mexico City using a 120-seat Airbus A319. Beginning Nov. 1, Air Canada will launch additional daily service between Mexico City and Canada with the reintroduction of daily service to and from Montreal. On Nov. 6, Air Canada will begin weekend service (Saturday and Sunday) between Vancouver and Mexico City that will increase to daily service starting Dec. 1. All flights will be operated with Airbus A319 aircraft featuring Executive Service, individual seatback entertainment systems, the ability to collect Aeroplan miles and lounge access for qualified customers. The flights are also timed for convenient local and international connections.
