TORONTO — As it gears up for its Winter 2011-2012 season and embarks upon its 40 Years of Great Vacations celebration, Sunquest has just announced four new routes, including two new programs out of Toronto.

Starting Dec. 17, Sunquest will feature direct flights out of Toronto to Fort Lauderdale on Thomas Cook Canada, which it will operate in partnership with sister company Encore Cruises. As part of this offering, in addition to the flights and accommodation, Sunquest will also feature car rentals with every package. Air-only rates are also available starting from $199 plus tax per person.

Also new for 2012 is the launch of a program into Cartagena, again featuring direct flights out of Toronto on Thomas Cook Canada.

Located on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, Cartagena is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its colonial architecture.

“We are always looking for new and interesting destinations to add to our product lineup and Cartagena fits the bill perfectly,” said Steve Butchart, Vice President of Sunquest. “It combines the always popular beach vacation with a cultural experience that will delight even the most seasoned travellers.”

Sunquest will feature one flight per week from Toronto to Cartagena, and offers several resorts to choose from, including the Hotel Caribe and the completely-renovated Occidental Grand Cartagena. Located on the beach and 15 minutes from the historic city centre, packages at the Occidental Grand Cartagena start from $999 per person.

Sunquest is also offering direct flights from Calgary to Cozumel on Thomas Cook Canada. “In expanding our flying program out of the West, we were also keen to provide our customers there with more choice when it came to destinations,” said Butchart. Pricing starts from $1,289 plus tax per person and the program, which will commence on Dec. 14, 2011 (running until April 4, 2012), features eight- and 15-night packages at such resorts as the Allegro Cozumel, the Occidental Grand Cozumel and Park Royal Cozumel, among others.

Also new for 2012 is a program to Jamaica out of Thunder Bay, with flights operated by WestJet. It will kick off Nov. 5 and run until April 21 with all-inclusive pricing starting from $869 per person.
