Location of Work: Toronto, Ontario

Title of Position: Assistant Manager (Travel Agency)

Wage offered $44.28 per hour

Hours per week: 37 hours per week

Benefits Offered: 30 days annual leave

Terms of Employment: Full time Permanent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business travel agency servicing client with international travel patterns.
  • Sales and marketing abilities
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Human resource management skills
  • Research skills
  • Travel and/or management/ supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Time and risk management skills an asset
  • Diploma or degree in tourism, business or management is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English and Danish.

Job Duties:

  • Assist manager with overseeing and participating on all projects;
  • Promoting VR Travel Canada to existing and prospective clients;
  • Identifying and developing new client opportunities in the Canadian market;
  • Developing and implementing changes in the department in order to match various demands of budgets and/or customer needs;
  • Applying knowledge of VR Travel’s policies, project management methodologies and standards, and business objectives;
  • Supervising the North American team staff;
  • Key account contact for select Danish, Greenlandic and International clients;
  • Assist Management with developing annual budgets, forecasts and controlling of costs;
  • Assist Management with all daily operations of the office all departmental changes, economic budgets, forecasts controlling costs, hiring, terminations, promoting, training and directing other travel agency staff;
  • Staffing and training staff in accordance with local legislation and International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements;
  • Assist senior management with the the North American operations’ compliance with country wide and provincial licensing bodies such as TICO and IATA;
  • Training and guiding staff to provide outstanding services in the local market;
  • Ensuring that processes and procedures are properly implemented and managed with Vejle Rejser’s proprietary software and linked with the parent company in Denmark;
  • Development of the North American operations with a special view to accommodating the distinctive needs of Greenland related infrastructure and travel; and
  • Other duties as required.
