U River Cruises debuts new drag & tattoo themed cruises

TORONTO — Following news of its official name change, U River Cruises has announced the launch of two new themed cruises in Germany this summer aboard The A.

The tailored themed itineraries – ‘Tattoo on U’ and ‘U in Drag’ – are enhanced versions of the ‘Germany’s Finest’ eight-day voyage that sails from Frankfurt to Regensburg, with a focus on topics that emphasize U’s ethos as a sexy and fun cruise experience.

“The themes coincide with everything our U brand stands for, which is encouraging our guests to completely let go, be confidently themselves and meet new like-minded traveller along the way,” said Ellen Bettridge, CEO and President of U. “It’s important for us to continue to innovate in ways that inspire our guests and provide them with experiences that they won’t find anywhere else. The launch of these two cruises is just the beginning for our themed concepts onboard U.”

U in Drag

Departing July 6, 2019, this voyage features celebrity drag queens Jiggly Caliente, Darienne Lake and Phi Phi O’Hara, stars of the hit TV show ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’. In addition with several onboard performances throughout the sailing, the itinerary includes interactive activities co-hosted by the queens, such as a karaoke night, drag makeup lessons, an exclusive bar crawl at one of the ship ports and more.

Tattoo on U

Departing Aug. 17, 2019, this cruise will sail with celebrity tattoo artists Steven Tefft, winner of Season 2 of the show ‘Ink Master’; Reese Hilburn, seen on Spike TV’s hit show ‘Tattoo Nightmares Miami’; Bobby Moss; leading tattoo model Heather Moss; and tattoo expert Paul Gambino for a week dedicated to all things ink. Highlights include an onboard welcome party with the artists, a tattoo parlour crawl in one of the ports, contests to win a free tattoo from one of the artists onboard and $200 towards a favourite tattoo shop, brunch Q&As and more.

U’s themed itineraries include open bar throughout the cruise, three daily meals, select shore excursions, complimentary Wi-Fi, onboard local U hosts, and other popular activities such as mixology classes, silent discos, a local DJ, paint & wine classes, and rooftop yoga.

Earlier this week, the cruise line announced that it is changing its name from U by Uniworld to simply U River Cruises, a move that Bettridge says was made to differentiate between the two brands.
