Dining venues galore for Melia’s two newest D.R. resorts

PUNTA CANA — Meliá Hotels International has new details about Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort & Meliá Caribe Beach Resort, the two properties opening this winter on the site of the Meliá Caribe Tropical.

As reported on Travelweek.ca earlier this summer, Meliá Caribe Tropical will transform into two distinct properties: the adults-only Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort; and Meliá Caribe Beach Resort, a resort for everyone.

The Spanish hotel company, with more than 380 hotels around the world, says the D.R. properties will debut December 2018, just in time for the holiday season.

“By offering two distinct properties with specialized services, we are more able to cater to guests’ needs and enhance their travel experience,” says Alvaro Tejeda, Regional VP, The Americas. “Our guests have been requesting more adults-only options, as well as family-friendly amenities, so we are thrilled to be able to fulfill that need and offer a more tailored stay.”

As an adults-only property, Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort will offer the THE LEVEL, Meliá Hotels & Resorts’ elevated service concept offering preferential facilities and amenities including VIP lounge check-in/out, exclusive pool, restaurant, free Internet access, premium beverages, hors d’oeuvres and coffee and tea service throughout the day. THE LEVEL Concierge can also arrange for priority reservations for à la carte restaurants, treatments at the spa, golf reservations and more.

In total Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort will have 538 rooms, including standard junior suites and 136 THE LEVEL suites, as well as a pool, beach and five new restaurant concepts: Mosaico for casual Mediterranean dining; Muoi offering dim sum, Vietnamese and sushi; Casa Nostra with a wood fire grill and Italian specialties; Rumba for open-air breakfasts and lunches; and sports bar Replay.

Meanwhile Meliá Caribe Beach Resort will offer an array of room options, specifically designed to meet multi-generational needs, says the company. The resort will feature 609 rooms, consisting of 154 THE LEVEL Suites, 123 Beachside Family Rooms, and a mix of 332 Premium Beachside and Deluxe Rooms.

Debuting with an interactive waterpark, and an arcade featuring popular gaming and VR consoles, hotel reps says the property will offer a comprehensive lineup of family entertainment.

And with seven new dining venues on property, families can enjoy a new restaurant each night: Riviera, an all-day eatery, exclusively to The Level guests, serving international cuisine; Tartufo (opening 2019), an authentic Italian and Mediterranean restaurant; Alma, a restaurant that blends traditional Spanish recipes with modern techniques; casual beachfront grill and bar Barefoot, also exclusively for The Level guests; Bazaar (opening 2019), billed as a fun buffet featuring food trucks and international food stations; Merkado, overlooking the beach and featuring family style and seating for large groups, a kid’s corner and ice cream shop; O Grille, located by the resort’s water park, offering grilled specialties and snacks and picnic-style seating; and Hokkaido, a newly remodeled Japanese restaurant, including four Teppanyaki tables and bar.

Guests at both Meliá Caribe Beach Resort and Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort get dine around privileges for a total of 13 restaurants. Guests of both properties can also enjoy specialty cocktail bars including The Shaker (debuting in 2019), Sapphire, Elyxr and lively Pool Bar at Meliá Caribe Beach Resort and Jigger, Olives Lobby Bar, Replay Sports Bar and Pool Bar at Meliá Punta Cana Beach Resort.

In addition to the upcoming changes at Meliá Caribe Tropical, Meliá Hotels International will also debut an all-new luxury property in December in the D.R., The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real.
