G Adventures to add fifth yacht to the Galapagos

TORONTO — G Adventures is ramping up its Galapagos offerings with an additional yacht that will join four other touring vessels in 2019.

The 16-passenger Eden yacht will start sailing to the Galapagos Islands in January on small-group, sea-based trips. There will be six itineraries in total – north, central, west, east and southern islands – ranging from seven to 17 days.

The new yacht, built in 1996 and refurbished in 2012, features three upper-deck, twin-share cabins with bunk beds, one main deck double-bed cabin, and four lower-deck, twin-share cabins. There are also an interior dining room, living room with television and DVD, and a two-level, wraparound deck with an outdoor lounge area ideal for wildlife spotting.

In preparation of its inaugural season, G Adventures plans to move the Eden into drydock this fall for further upgrades and branding.

According to the tour operator, the Galapagos has seen a 22% increase in global bookings between 2016 and 2017. From August 2017 to July 2018, 100% of its yacht departures to the destination were sold out.

“We are continuing to see increased demand from our travellers looking to experience the Galapagos Islands and the addition of the Eden marks an exciting development for us to be able to meet this demand,” says South America Product Specialist, Emma Walden. “The wildlife, natural beauty and our offer of complimentary flights between Lima and Quito make the archipelago an attractive destination for travellers seeking a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Bookings for the Eden are currently open. For more information go to gadventures.com.
