NEWFOUNDLAND — History’s most famous shipwreck will soon open up to tourists.

London-based travel company Blue Marble Private has announced the launch of eight-day trips that will take travellers down 13,000 feet to see the sunken Titanic. Starting in 2018, the trips will depart from Newfoundland and will include either helicopter or seaplane transport to a yacht docked above the wreck, and a submarine ride to the wreckage.

Nine clients at a time can be accommodated on each trip. Dives will take place throughout the day and night, and will be followed by lectures and mission updates. This will be the first time since 2005 that the site will open to the public, reports Esquire.

History buffs will certainly be chomping at the bit for a ticket, but wait ‘til they hear how much the trip will cost. The ticket price is a whopping US$105,129, which as The Telegraph notes is the equivalent to the $4,350 first-class ticket on Titanic’s 1912 maiden voyage (adjusted for inflation).

So don’t be so quick to belt out ‘My Heart Will Go On’, you’ll need some time to save your pennies.
