Hotel updates on Oahu

With an abundance of hotel options for travellers to Oahu, there are also many changes taking place at various resorts on island, including the closing of the JW Marriott Ihilani resort, completed renovations at The New Otani Beach Hotel and Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk as well as 30th anniversary celebrations at the Halekulani.

The JW Marriott Ihilnai Resort will close for an extensive renovation on Dec. 31. The Resort Group (TRG) will be repurchasing the resort after the expiration of the Marriott International’s management agreement on this same date. The JW Marriott Ihilani is expected to be closed through late 2015.

Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk recently introduced its resort-wide refresh, with spacious suites now featuring new deluxe fixtures and accessories. Designed with Hawaiian sensibility in mind, designers took a cue from kappa, a traditional Hawaiian barkcloth that is stamped with intricate geometric prints. The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel is also getting ready to debut its newly renovated accommodations, just in time for the resort’s 50th anniversary. The property is located on the shores of Sans Souci beach and will complete its US$4.5 million dollar makeover with full upgrades to its Executive Suites, Ocean View and Diamond Head View rooms. The Halekulani is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the launch of its new website, Halekulani.com. Offering virtual experiences for travellers, the site’s new features also include integrated social content, a dedicated blog inspired by Halekulani Living Magazine and the new “Be Our Guest” testimonial section.
